Created in 2005, National Mutt Day is celebrated twice each year, on Dec. 2 and July 31. The goal: to save 10,000 mixed-breed dogs on each day across the U.S.
Hundreds of thousands of unwanted mixed-breed dogs languish in shelters across the country. National Mutt Day raises awareness of these healthy, loving dogs who are waiting to join their new family. Consider visiting your local shelter and adopting a mutt. If you’re unable to adopt at this time, please consider donating just $5 to your local animal shelter, donating supplies if needed by the shelter, or volunteering to help in some way.
